HTS: Year 7

Hi... We're back! Sorry about keeping you waiting, we meant to do it last week but homework is a killer- pretty sure you know that! Do you ever feel like you're just going to die if you get any more?

Well if you do, don't worry, that's what we're here for! So- how to survive homework, boring maths lessons and school life in year 7!
We'll start with 5 tips on what NOT to do-
1) Don't mess with scary/ strict teachers if you value your free time!
2) Whatever you do, don't get into fights. This will give you a free passport to detentions and also make you very unpopular!
3) Swearing isn't cool! OK, it might seem like everyone's doing it, but trust us, people will want to be your friend a lot more if they think you are a friendly person!

4) Don't get jealous of people when they're better at something than you! We all have different talents- sport, art, maths, music... There are those people who seem to be amazing at everything, and you might want to punch them for that, but DO NOT! It's an unfair world, and there will always be those people, but remember, there are other things more important than being talented, like being kind and a good friend.
5) Don't be mean and get on the wrong side of people. Even if you're sorry afterwards, they'll still hold it against you and probably won't want you as a friend.

Now, what TO do to make year 7 the best year of your life!
1) Work hard, whatever the people around you are doing. This can be almost impossible, especially when you're bored or tired or sit next to the class joker or your BFF. But remember- it might not seem like it, but working is what you're at school to do and if you don't work now, you'll want to punch yourself in the face for being so stupid when you get to your GCSE's!
2) Be nice to everyone, even if they aren't "cool". One day you might be so happy they are your friend- you never know who they are until you get to know them!
3) Try loads of activities and clubs- take whatever your school has to offer! What other way is there to find out what you're talented at?
4) Be unique and be yourself! Don't just follow the trends- they won't necessarily make you cool. Who knows- that new bag that no-one thinks is cool might suddenly be the new thing! YOU are amazing, and after all it takes all kinds of people to make a world!
5) Be confident. It might all seem a bit scary at first, but everyone will feel that way. The world is full of friends! As an awesome quote says "There are no strangers here, only friends you haven't met yet!" In a few weeks, you will know the building like the back of your hand (weird comparison!) and those strangers will  be your best friends!

Bye now! This took us quite a while to write, so we hope you enjoy it and that it helps you survive your year 7!
